Shine 03:37
I know you’re gonna leave But darling, don’t leave too soon I’m holding on to your hand Like a baby with a brand new balloon So if you promise not to shine Then I won’t shine too ‘Cause I know you’re gonna leave me, babe You’re gonna leave me too soon And you know That the stars Will align someday And maybe they Maybe they will shine our way If I had a nickel or a dime, oh For all the times that you Made my fear and hopes so intertwined, yeah Like blood red roses and thorns in the vestibule Now I know you’re gonna leave, yeah And I don’t want ya to I know you’re gonna leave me, babe You’re gonna leave me too soon And you know That the stars Will align someday And maybe they Maybe they will shine our way

Always Soon 04:10
Sometimes I feel your glow Tangled in shadows and When the weather’s wise, I see your eyes In time, lovers’ woes They drape like sheets on pillows Our will is a heartbeat on each other’s line So stake me To your cross And paint me With the juice in your heart And tell me Tell me always sometime soon It could be a show My pained heart, all of my bravado But you know better still and better more Your wry smile sparks Flickers buried deep and apart And gives them a bit of flame to lick right to So stake me To your cross And paint me With the juice in your heart And tell me Tell me always sometime soon Entrust me all your time I want to bind and abide And shake all of the limbs that hold your fruit Take it all in my arms Give mine back full with charm We will be the ones to see it through So stake me To your cross And paint me With the juice in your heart And tell me Tell me always sometime soon So stake me To your cross And paint me With the juice in your heart And tell me Tell me always sometime soon Oh, and tell me Tell me always sometime soon Oh, and tell me Tell me always sometime soon

Treachery 04:35
I can’t change how you think of me My sad, old songs My treachery Time has taken the best of things And given the world Such worthy wings Tines of silk And revelry Make my mind So feelingly You could hold my bitter stone of blood Show me love and call it something Now, we don’t have to lie We don’t have to curse We just hold our verse of love We don’t have to lie We don’t even fret We just hold our fear And ride it I can see the sun Slowly carrying on Glowing bright and paramour Traipsing through the sky Slowly passing by Like some glowing ball of hope and Now, we don’t have to lie We don’t have to curse We just hold our verse of love We don’t have to lie We don’t even fret We just hold our fear And ride it You might say what you mean to me Your vagabond heart it playfully Picks apart my stars and starts To race along your lust of larks and… Now, we don’t have to lie We don’t have to curse We just hold our verse of love We don’t have to lie We don’t even fret We just hold our fear And ride it Paint a picture and pace the night Feel delight in all your flights ‘Member me with my soul on fire I’ll set a light for you every once in a while Now, we don’t have to lie We don’t have to curse We just hold our verse of love We don’t have to lie We don’t even fret We just hold our fear And ride it now

C. Burns 04:27
Burns is gonna push the Cougar too fast You know they wanna come and bust his ass He puts the gas to the floor for a while The way you flinch just makes him smile Midnight back roads ain’t enough He’ll hit 120 turn the headlights off The kid is quick He’ll leave your mouth full of dust No room to spit or cuss And yeah you should’ve seen him go Under the bright lights At the casino Living fast wasn’t a joke That life that you sung It was a bullet from a gun And ever since you’ve been gone I still hear your song I still hear your song Cold at nine-ball with that Guido smile No chance in hell you’ll get to break for a while He’ll run the table like a knife runs blood You sit and study ‘cause you know that you should Too good to hustle ‘cause they already know Memphis to Nashville, down to Tupelo That boy so good that the cash dried up Y’all too scared to let him push his luck And you know he smokes way too much His sense of humor’s gonna bust your gut And the girls stay on his mind Heart on his sleeve all of the time Shooting angles making them look straight Pound for pound, a pure heavy weight He lays some tire when he takes the prize Speeding up the highway with his blood on fire And the world let him go That bright gold shimmering soul Luck paid and took its toll That life that you sung It was a bullet from a gun And ever since you’ve been gone I still hear your song I still hear your song Oh how the street lights pass so fast When you’re alone Just staring out the window Watching that flash Of colors unfold You could take the long way Or the short cut Around the bend But one way or another The story ends That life that you sung Was a bullet from a gun Ever since you been gone I still hear your song I still hear your song I still hear your song I can still hear your song

Redwinged 05:19
Swimming through a bright white ocean of broken glass Ghost ships black and blue sway past me Clouds hang low, halcyon, observing the quiet wrath Knowingly vacant they slip away en masse And the language of our love everlasting Ceases to exist Lush leaves, they lie languid in the wind Wisps of time and try again lingering on The cellophane cage will stop making its slow spin And even with feathers clipped by our kin You know that only the redwinged Can take flight like this You can’t keep me here on the shore Anymore My colors are fading faster still They chill You can’t keep me here in your arms Oh the harm My bones they can’t hold your luck They’re giving up Once again, your willful weight creeps for a century Like the sights and sounds of the sunken sea The night sky falls to the deep with mem’ries Of the path we found and histories lost Shatter them when dawn comes with golden furies Awakening the mist My red wings they flutter on with the salty tears Of the ghost ships that pass in dreams and in mirrors Your elegiac shore looks on as the sea clears Singing tuneless again You can’t keep me here on the shore Anymore My colors are fading faster still They chill You can’t keep me here in your arms Oh the harm My bones they can’t hold your luck Anymore They’ve given up They've given up

Monet Eyes 04:44
When the golden sun Is in the sky We are taking flight and glowing bright As the clouds set in To disguise They turn their Monet eyes in the distance When the city is robed In twilight Your Monet eyes sigh every hour If the light turns red Don’t get out You’ve still got that loaded gun in your hand Lead me on with your headlights Lead me home if you can Under the sliver of the moon Call me baby, Call me your sweet thing I’ll hold your heart within And darling, I will bury you again But your Monet eyes Don’t know where to begin When the rain starts pouring, Kiss me again By the neon lights and tourist sights But when the blade glints dark In the night We’ll keep our balance act on its edge Lead me on with your headlights Lead me home if you can Under the rabbit in the moon Call me baby, Call me your sweet thing I’ll hold your heart within And darling, I will bury you again But your Monet eyes Don’t know where to begin When the dawn creeps in and closes My Monet eyes They will dream of sun and taking flight, Your soul ablaze and full of light So if the sky burns red Don’t get out You’ve still got my bleeding heart in your hand Call me baby, Call me your sweet thing I’ll hold your heart within And darling, I will bury you again But your Monet eyes Don’t know where to begin

"When ya coming home?" His mama said to him "You’ve been gone so long." And you know I ain’t ever been… Never been the type To rest on laurels and lies But it’s been too long You can call me in the morning You can forget your nightfalls We can pour over the ashes Your kettle black and your kettle calls You can tell me all your secrets And I’ll tell you my lies Troubled truths that are passing Little hopes that died Little hopes that died, yes. 'Cause I’ve never been the type To lay it on the line Lover’s pain and pride Aching inches with The feel of falling mile by mile The feel of falling mile by mile This city’s always weeping It carries me like a stray dog I wonder why I’ve been taken To this stretch for so long Hold my hands while I worry I’ll hold yours while you fret Take me down your forgotten alleys Give me all your regret Give me all your regret, yes. 'Cause I've never been the type To lay it on the line Lover’s pain and pride Aching inches with The feel of falling mile by mile The feel of falling mile by mile I see your gutters and ash swept walls Red bricks, black splattered paint and all Orange lights just a glow of rain Pain aflood just the same Dead vendor stalls with the stain of loss Cluttered trash sex crimes in your dark The buildings felled like a forest of grief Looking over all I see is There’s a light going down over Main Street tonight There’s a light going down over Main Street tonight Bring your love back home Beg the sunshine to stay On that main street of sullen stone Pave yourself a better way 'Cause you’ve never been The type to lay it on the line Take your pain and pride And your aching inches with The feel of falling mile by mile The feel of falling mile by mile The feel of falling mile by mile The feel of falling mile by mile The feel of falling mile by mile The feel of falling mile by mile

Lover please, I’m on my knees Tell me no, twist the knife so very slow See me run So undone While I stare onto you never more Hold me still, hold me fast Dream a dream so everlasting I’ll walk away sullenly Hold me still, hold me fast Dream a dream so everlasting I’ll walk away sullenly Even in rain my fire quivers like a snake It pains, it takes, your breathe, it wants to bait On its hook To keep you shook Clasp you in its grasp, oh so serene Hold me still, hold me fast Dream a dream so everlasting I’ll walk away sullenly Hold me still, hold me fast Dream a dream so everlasting I’ll walk away sullenly Flinting lips, wet and unstitched Sweet fragrant pulls and grips Hours ache With tensed pace Flushed steam upon your fingertips Petals flood soft flesh in windfall Flowers bloom and reach so tall For your light Pallor bright Gonna take the leaves and stems, roots and all Hold me still, hold me fast Dream a dream so everlasting I’ll walk away sullenly Hold me still, hold me fast Dream a dream so everlasting I’ll walk away sullenly

Hail Mama 03:29
You dance around the saddle with your hips in your hands Make me beg “Jesus” ‘bout how I can’t stand Easy on the throttle get you done up right Get the neighbors waking way the hell past midnight Oh Hail Mary Ooh yeah mama You got me screaming mercy like there ain’t no tomorrow Sun's up yelling There goes night Got me preaching baby now I maybe just might Wanna hail to ya mama ‘til I make that loving my own Wanna hail to ya mama ‘til I make that loving my own You’re dirty like decadence on devil’s row You’re sliding so slippery on summer dew You’re making aching just like hot ice Somebody’s itching how you scratch it just right Oh Hail Mary Ooh yeah mama You got me screaming mercy like there ain’t no tomorrow Sun's up yelling There goes night Got me preaching baby now I maybe just might Wanna hail to ya mama ‘til I make that loving my own Wanna hail to ya mama ‘til I make that loving my own Wanna hail to ya mama with your feet of the ground You’ve done chased me down Pull down the shades Lay down the sheets Make all the days disappear for weeks Thrown to the fire Laid on down Eveybody’s gonna hear you scream across town Oh Hail Mary Ooh yeah mama You got me screaming mercy like there ain’t no tomorrow Sun's up yelling There goes night Got me preaching baby now I maybe just might Wanna hail to ya mama ‘til I make that loving my own Wanna hail to ya mama ‘til I make that loving my own Wanna hail to ya mama with your feet off the ground You done chased me down You done chased me down You done chased me down You done chased me down

I know you’ve been thinking ‘bout your high school crush Her sugar eyes and her sunrise blush She took you for a ride and you didn’t mind Papa’s little angel, mama won’t abide Naked and sweaty with lust Trouble from back to front Aching to just tell you a lie She didn’t have to try Remember there was a time You couldn’t read wrong from rhyme Cruising summer long Out until the break of down Tripping on some lust Chasing down another blood rush Taking every chance that comes along Your long stare and your coffee smile Living life has left you dead for a while Pain and heartache just a crack at the seams What you say to the mirror, truth and fallacy Wanting all the love in the world Remembering the kid that you were Begging to believe in a lie He didn’t have to try Remember there was a time You couldn’t read wrong from rhyme Cruising summer long Out until the break of down Tripping on some lust Chasing down another blood rush Taking every chance that comes along Summer nights with the top down Her hair spinning around and round Flushed cheeks from the summer heat Tires and street thumping like a heartbeat A stomped six fumy fire No headlights mile after mile She leans back with her feet on the dash Looking like a dream in your hands Remember there was a time You couldn’t read wrong from rhyme Cruising summer long Out until the break of down Tripping on some lust Chasing down another blood rush Taking every chance that comes along Taking every chance that comes along

Painted Eyes 05:23
There is a song inside of me There is a song inside of me There is a song inside of me There is a song inside of me There is a song inside of me There is a song inside of me Hot glass and dirt on your face You look like a kid to me Hell, I remember your mother in that state penitentiary Seems every time you come around now All I want to do is spit fire Hold your hands with the clasp of an anvil And just watch you cry Watch you place your bets on harlequins While they pantomime you Some soul blighting turn of a lover that’s come oh so true Change your face and your place in time But it’s gonna take five or ten Or that many more cinches to discover just where the hell you’ve been Time, it ain’t what it used to be And neither are the lies You can’t hold back the pain Behind those painted eyes Now what you done or could have done Who you’ve been or why Spent many a penny on your dollar You just go on and set the stakes high Empty pockets like your insides Except that small murmur true Wish the change jingle last a bit longer Nobody ever could tell you That your smile could have been worth millions If it weren’t full of knives Making something good feel just like a mallet Coming on down in time For that last deviled inevitable Falling curtain call Another tale of failed love and squalor making you feel small Time, it ain’t what it used to be And neither are the lies You can’t hold back the pain Behind those painted eyes This life, it could set you free This life, it could set you free This life, it could set you free This life, it could set you free This life, it could set you free This life, it could set you free This life, it could set you free This life, it could set you free Why don’t you turn your back on me Why don’t you turn your back on me Why don’t you turn your back on me, just one more time now

Take this broken heart in me Pull it apart from me Make all my troubles A laughing jest Take this broken heart in me Pull it apart from me Make all my troubles A laughing jest I can feel the river running I can feel the river running I can feel the river running I can feel it running back home This little prayer in me It’s gonna bring the best, yes This little prayer It’s gonna bring the best This little prayer in me It’s gonna bring the best yes This little prayer It’s gonna bring the best, oh yes It’s gonna bring the best Gonna bring the best, oh yes (Good friends hold true) Good friends hold true (Good friends hold true) I can see you shining on like morning dew (Good friends hold true) Even with the lights going down on Main Street (Good friends hold true) I can feel your love like summer’s heat (Good friends hold true) You’re that little gold in winter’s night (Good friends hold true) Good friends hold true (Good friends hold true) GOOD FRIENDS HOLD TRUE.
